Working with the Palau Bureau of Tourism (BoT) Preksha designed and launched a new system called Destination Information Management System (DIMS) to bring information on tour-operator licences, visitor-attraction status, and state project updates into a single system.

The Bureau of Tourism (BoT) sits within Palau’s Ministry of Human Resources, Culture, Tourism & Development and serves as the national steward of sustainable tourism. Preksha Goyal worked with the BoT to address a fragmented and delayed data collection effort. She designed and deployed a new system, called DIMS (Destination Information Management System) which allows for all relevant BoT data to be collected in one place. This system works online or offline and automatically syncs when a connection is made, important for data collected in the field. Role-based security and data integrity rules ensure users are presented with the appropriate information and data is kept clean. Dashboards are updated in near real-time. State governors, after live demonstrations, endorsed the platform and began entering updates within days; initial uptake shows over eighty percent of required fields populated inside the first fortnight. The result is a single source of truth that shrinks data-collection lead time from roughly 180 days to a matter of minutes and frees Bureau staff to focus on analysis rather than chasing spreadsheets.
