Kailan and Victhakorn worked on a project with the Majuro Stevedores to streamline their container delivery and return, enhance their reporting, update their website, and automate the process for tracking refrigerated containers and plug-in fees.
Majuro Stevedore and Terminal Co. (MSTCo) is a cargo handling and delivery company located in Majuro, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI). Established in 1974, the company handles all cargo containers that are shipped in and out of the atoll. MSTCo also provides container delivery services within the island. Vitchakorn Sayanwisuttikam, working on a two-person team with Kailan Mao, addressed several operational areas of the terminal. They took a manual paper-based process for tracking container deliveries and returns and automated it. The new process was implemented using an existing Microsoft Access database system. The team implemented a Power BI dashboard and customizable reporting tools in Microsoft Access to improve reporting processes and implemented a company website that provides clear information about the company’s services, operations, and contact details for customers. Finally, the team added a reefer (refrigerated container) module to the MS Access database system. This module facilitates reefer tracking and automatically calculates energy consumption fees.
