Palau's Paper-to-Portal Pivot

Joyce worked with Palau’s FIB to modernize its processes through digital transformation. By leveraging cloud-based tools and lightweight automation, the FIB improved the handling of FIAC applications and Quarterly Reports.
The Foreign Investment Board (FIB) of Palau is responsible for overseeing the approval and monitoring of Foreign Investment Approval Certificates (FIACs). Its mission is to facilitate responsible foreign investment while safeguarding national interests and ensuring compliance with Palauan law. Joyce worked closely with them to accomplish three goals, first she digitized paper records to store them securely in Box, a cloud based document management system. Then she created a secure submission portal integrated with the Box API, to automatically organize submissions into the correct FIB folders. Finally, she eliminated the need for duplicate data entry by integrating Google Forms input with Google Apps Script to auto-populate a master Google Sheet. All of this resulted in increased efficiencies, improved transparency, and a more sustainable workflow for handling FIAC applications and Quarterly Reports.
