Suspicious Transactions and Cross Border Currency

Joshua Antonson and Laura Lodewyk (Palau, Financial Intelligence Unit, FIU)

Joshua and Laura created a database for the FIU so they could move from a paper-based method of storing information to electronic storing. By previously having Cash Transactions Report, Suspicious Transaction Reports, and Cross Border Currency Reports all being submitted in paper format, issues would arise that would hinder the FIU’s ability to perform the required analysis critical to its functioning. Now the FIU is able to search and analyze data faster and there are no longer issues pertaining to physical storage space. In addition, the consultants created an informational website (palaufiu.org) to explain the mission and processes of the FIU to the public, and they setup and linked a professional and secure Zoho email account to the domain for the website for confidential sharing of information.
