Mehak converted a complex excel spreadsheet application into a MySQL database application for the Financial Institutions Commission, the banking regulator in Palau, an island country location in the western Pacific Ocean.
The Financial Institutions Commission, the banking regulator of Palau, regularly receives summarized banking records from the five banks on the island and consolidates it on excel. Six years of banking information on excel made it difficult to segregate the data and conduct additional analysis. The CMU student converted the various excel sheets into a MySQL database, creating a backup scheme and a more user friendly and flexible platform for ad hoc analysis.
