Encrypting Emails

Ben Junker (Palau, Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU))

When he wasn’t kayaking around the Rock Islands in Palau, Ben was working closely with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). The FIU achieves its goal of combatting money laundering and terrorist financing by collecting and analyzing reports to identify possibly illegal behavior. Similar to the Banking Commission in the Marshall Islands, the FIU receives these reports from three banks in the area. Ben worked with the FIU to assist the reporting banks with electronic filing versus paper submissions; provide training on the existing database functionality (database implemented by TCinGC students in 2015); provide training and implementation on sending and receiving encrypted emails through Microsoft Outlook; case diagramming; and gain remote access to different government organizations and their databases to access pertinent information that will assist with flagging fraudulent activity.
